3 Hospitalized After Overnight Long Island Expressway Crash In Jericho

Two men and a woman were hospitalized after an overnight crash on the Long Island Expressway.

It happened just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in Jericho.

That's when a 2016 Volvo tractor-trailer was traveling eastbound and struck a 2005 Isuzu in the vicinity of Exit 40E, according to Nassau County Police.

The driver of the Isuzu, a 55-year-old man, was establishing a construction zone at the time of the accident, Nassau County Police said. 

The collision damaged the passenger side of the Volvo and caused a 35-year-old female passenger to become trapped. 

Nassau County Police Department’s Emergency Services Unit responded and extracted the woman.

The driver of the Isuzu suffered neck pain. He was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The Volvo passenger suffered a minor leg injury and she was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

While extracting the passenger, an officer suffered a contusion to his head and was transported to an area hospital for evaluation and treatment.

The investigation is ongoing.
